Columbus Laughs is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the Columbus, Ohio comedy community where people can connect through laughter and bring joy into each other’s lives.
Our Mission
To foster the cultural vibrancy and economic impact of the local comedy scene by providing comedians and partners with development resources, a platform for fans to engage with comedy, and attracting top-tier comedic talent through curated events and community collaboration.
Our Team
Hannah Romes,
Executive Director
Hannah is a comedian, producer, and entrepreneur based in Columbus, Ohio. As the Co-Owner of Hashtag Comedy Company, she oversees programming, and talent development for the company’s improv theater and stand-up club. With a background in psychology and marketing from The Ohio State University, she combines strategic leadership with a passion for live performance to cultivate a thriving comedy community. As a performer herself, Hannah is known for her dynamic, story-driven comedy and commitment to fostering inclusive, engaging entertainment experiences.
Peter Ostapowicz,
Director of Development
Peter is the Midwest Regional Manager for Don't Tell Comedy and has produced hundreds of comedy shows in Columbus, OH. With a background in marketing, branding, and strategic growth. He is dedicated to fostering a strong comedy community by supporting local talent, building industry connections, and creating spaces for comedians and audiences to connect.
Chris Heiberger,
Board Member
Chris is a Columbus native and a graduate of The Ohio State University. He has held a variety of leadership roles in his career at Nationwide and MAPSYS Inc, and is currently a co-owner of Hashtag Comedy Company. Chris has also been a professional comedian in Columbus for over 15 years and is a cast member of TBD: The Improvised Musical and The Hashtag Comedy Show.
Matthew White,
Board Member
Matt has been involved in the Columbus Comedy scene for approximately 15 years starting out doing stand-up open mics and then forming the #Hashtag Comedy Improv group with his fellow founding members in 2012. Matt is now one of the co-owners of the Hashtag Comedy Club located in the Short North and preforms in the monthly Hashtag Comedy Improv show at the club. For his day job Matt is the Chief Legal Officer at IGS Energy, headquartered in Dublin Ohio, and has been a practicing attorney for 18 years. Matt, his wife Jennifer and 2 young children Samantha and Johnnie currently reside in the Grandview Heights neighborhood.
